چکیده

Key stakeholders in industry are highly responsible for achieving energy performance targets. Particularly, this paper assesses the attitudes, approaches, and experiences of Finnish construction professionals regarding energy-efficient buildings, or nZEBs. A three-tier investigation was conducted including surveys expert interviews with several stakeholders. The structure approach informed by preliminary data information available on sector. questionnaire showed that ranked efficiency embodied energy/carbon as very important. survey highlighted importance carbon CO2 materials is less important than from many stakeholders’ points view. “Energy efficiency” ESCOs, contractors, facility managers followed architects, HVAC engineers, design engineers. Nevertheless, opinions architects “embodied CO2” most nZEB. When it comes to “running time emissions” toward nZEB, contractors ESCO companies 1 property owners (78%) tenants (75%). It fascinating see has been (very important) all This study will enable make provisions overcoming barriers, gaps, challenges identified practices nZEB projects. also inform formulation policies drive retrofit uptake.

Towards Nearly Zero Energy Buildings in Europe: A Focus on Retrofit in Non-Residential Buildings

Buildings are the focus of European (EU) policies aimed at a sustainable and competitive low-carbon economy by 2020. Reducing energy consumption of existing buildings and achieving nearly zero energy buildings (NZEBs) are the core of the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) and the recast of the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD). To comply with these requirements, Member States have ...

Toward the design of zero energy buildings (ZEB) in Iran: Climatic study

In this research, a combination of passive and active methods is used to design a nearly zero energy building in four major climatic regions of Iran, including cold, mild, dry-warm, and wet-warm ones. The annual energy consumption analysis is performed using DesignBuilder® software. The passive strategies include Trombe Wall, blue roof, and thermochromic windows, and the active methods are usin...

Demand Response and Energy Storage for Zero Energy Residential Buildings

The EU climate and energy targets and the decreasing costs have been leading to a growing utilization of solar photovoltaic generation in residential buildings. However, even in buildings with the same level of yearly generation and consumption the mismatch between the demand and the photovoltaic generation profiles leads to high power flows between the household and the grid, which is an ineff...

Vulnerability to climate change impacts of present renewable energy systems designed for achieving net-zero energy buildings

There are high hopes and expectations in the potential of Net-Zero Energy Buildings (NZEB) to contribute to combat the adverse environmental effects from intensive human activity, including energy use. An important related question that has received insufficient attention and is therefore addressed in this study, is how NZEB equipped with renewable energy (RE) systems would perform in future cl...
